Tips on Drawing
First Sketch Step: Bubbles
As with any picture,
you'll want to start out with a "frame" of the image. By this I mean drawing a
very rough sketch of the image using bubble shapes. For this you will want to use the 4H
graphite, and don't apply too much pressure or you'll smash the fibers in the paper making
erasing a hard task also you will not be able to hand shade with a copy that has smashed
fibers and creases. Each bubble represents a part on the body and will be used to locate
details (such as the three bubbles in the neck area. Those are the neck muscles, but the
bottom part of the bubbles will be used to locate the collar bone outline.) Don't get
angry if the outline looks odd when you are done. I usually end up drawing two, one to get
an idea of the image, and then I do one on another piece of paper in slight finer detail. Note: Your image should not be as dark as the example. It was darkened so the scanner would pick up the lines.
